Earth Crisis' chugging riffs and barked declarations served as the gumshield of America's militant vegan straightedge movement passim the '90s, detailing the ideas of fauna and human liberation, drug-free living, and personal authorization through hard-core vocal. The vegan straightedge motion spawned activists wHO took the law of nature into their have custody, burning down fur farms and freeing animals directly. Earth Crisis began as the inspiration of Karl Buechner -- world Health Organization intended to play bass -- and his champion DJ Rose. The batting order eventually coagulated with Buechner on vocals, Ian "Bulldog" Edwards on bass, guitar player Scott Crouse, drummer Mike Ricardi, and a guitarist named Ben. This batting ordering began playacting some Syracuse, dissemination the message of veganism and the drug-free modus vivendi previously preached in the hard-core scene by Vegan Reich, Statement, and Raid. Earth Crisis crafted a five-song monstrance and sent it to the pronounce that had released those bands' records, Hardline. But with that label on hiatus, they distinct to button their showtime EP through a local friend's imprint, Conviction. All Out War came verboten on 7" single format, with the band embarking upon their offset U.S. go in support of it. Drummer Dennis Merrick -- world Health Organization would suit nigh as important in shaping the band's political political theory as Buechner -- came aboard around this time as Ricardi was ineffectual to pattern himself to touring. The interest that reinforced up in the hard-core jibe around the ring, along with a new demonstration, brought Earth Crisis to the attention of Chicago's Victory label and a deal was signed. Earth Crisis typeset around qualification their number one EP for the label; Firestorm was a landmark tonicity ending for the hard-core shot that combined staccato, solo-free alloy with barking, political, and militant vocals. The lyrics centered around the dangers of drug abuse and delivery "force against furiousness" to do drugs dealers and those wHO would abuse animals: "a firestorm to sanctify."

The Earth Crisis phenomenon was instantly in full swing, only Ben was asked to leave the band and was replaced by guitarist Kris Weichman. The group next crafted their debut uncut album, Destroy the Machines, which was released in 1995. Victory likewise secured the rights to All Out War, reissuing it on CD, 7", and cassette initialize. The band travelled to Europe, where they were amassing quite a consecrate following. Earth Crisis typeset around touring the States again as intimately, first with Guilt, Ignite, and Damnation AD and adjacent supporting Shelter. While on go in the northwestern United States, they were involved in a serious van crash that hospitalized Merrick for some time. While dwelling recuperating, the roost of the radical -- together with Rose, Ricardi, and another protagonist -- made a propose album under the moniker Path of Resistance as Earth Crisis popularity began to increment.

Major media outlets such as MTV, CNN, and CBS started application Earth Crisis and vegan straightedge in general. In 1996, the band released their instant full-length album, Gomorrah's Season Ends, a polished and unquestionably more metallic function that produced even more than anthems that became singsong worthy staples of their live performances. Though Victory was growth in size of it aboard the band, offers from bigger, more established and more widely distributed labels began to pour in. The band was asked to take part in the inaugural Ozzfest. Earth Crisis released a live album, The Oath That Keeps Me Free, through Victory and then sign-language a sign with then-indie metal giant Roadrunner Records, dwelling to acts such as Fear Factory and Sepultura. They likewise dismissed Weichman, replacement him with Edwards' brother Erick, late of the band Beta Minus Mechanic. Their first and only album for the pronounce, Breed the Killers, was released at the same time on vinyl radical through Equal Vision. It was solid, with production by Andy Sneep and a client vocal appearance by Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn. Earth Crisis toured unrelentingly behind the record, but it failed to engender much more of a seethe than whatsoever of their old releases had already. With dissatisfaction mounting on both sides, Earth Crisis cut off ties with Roadrunner and returned "home" to Victory. What followed was perchance the best exercise of their life history, the emphatically nu alloy flavored Slither. Its fantastically well produced, structured, and catchy songs included telling, rapping, and more obtuse and personally orientated lyrics. It was tantamount to a monumental "sell out" to many fans, however, and poor turnouts at subsequent go michigan reflected this. Earth Crisis' next discharge was a collection of demo, rare, and overlay tracks called Last of the Sane. In 2001, they proclaimed their dissolution, acting a victorious net performance at Hellfest in their hometown of Syracuse. A DVD and best-of collecting were released presently subsequently. Buechner formed a modern band called Nemesis. Crouse and Merrick stimulate teamed up in a progressive, clayey careen chemical group named Slave One.

Foo Fighters - Grohl Denies Writing Letter To Metallica

LATEST: FOO FIGHTERS frontman DAVE GROHL has denied writing an open letter to METALLICA begging them not to release their new album until its ready.

The drummer-turned-singer was reported to have penned a public note to the rockers asking them not to rush their new LP - which is due for release later this year (08) after a five year absence from the charts.

Grohl reportedly wrote, "Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I can't wait to hear the new s**t, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it."

But Grohl has denied ever writing the letter, insisting the story was exaggerated by a journalist.

He writes on the Foo Fighters' official website, "Just wanted to write a quick note to clear up this whole "Open letter to Metallica" fiasco...... For the record, I never "wrote" anything to Metallica.

"I was asked by a journalist to give a quick message to Metallica in the studio. So, I rattled that quote off the top of my head. No biggie, right?

"Somehow it became my 'open letter' to the band, and now it's been picked up by everyone (as if anyone really cares!). Now, it's true that I've been a loyal fan of this band, and I can't wait to hear the new s**t, but an 'open letter' to the band?!!?? Nah. Not my style. I'd rather just text 'em..."
